Fiona's Journal
We have been craving some proper bread,
something with some substance to it, and a real crust
and no sugar. Ian did some internet research and came
up with a bakery called Panera next to Mid-West
Airport so we all piled into the car and headed there
for breakfast. We ate well and came away with two lovely
crusty loaves and a huge bag of assorted bagels and
we would recommend this place highly to any one who
has not acquired a taste for the ultra soft steam-baked
American bread, or even if you have just as a good place
to eat.
Then we shopped next door at Target (a very RED supermarket)
for our evening meal and I picked up a cheap DVD for
the boys. We have a TV and DVD player and proper cooking
facilities in this cabin, the luxury model!
Back at the campsite I wrote and addressed some of
our rapidly accumulating postcards but, having forgotten
to look for stamps while we were out, they didn't get
any further. Ian did some work on his paying customers'
web sites and a bit on our travel one and Arthur and
I brought our diaries up to date. After that we had
an indulgent poolside day.
In the evening we all watched the DVD called Stand
by Me which was about four boys growing up in
50's small town America and was exactly the right film
for where we are geographically at the moment. We all
enjoyed it, except the scene with the leeches which
made the boys squirm!
Arthur's Log:
This freaking car is dumb. It beeps at you for
not having your seatbelt on when you are in park. You
can't put your seatbelt on when it's braking. If you
unlock the drivers door from the inside the alarm goes
off!
The Harry Report
After a week of no proper bread, dad decided that real
bread had to be tracked down and found Panera - which
was good.
George's Musings
We had a buzzer on the table that went off when our
meal was ready. I was disappointed with my meal - I
thought I was getting a toasted panini but it was only
a sandwich.
