A day to catch up with web site updating - but the process is slow and the available days are few and far between - which is why the web site is never up to date!

Fiona's Journal
Today was a day off, as I have come to think of our non-driving days, and we did the usual leisurely, camp site things mostly involving the swimming pool and a lot of sun tan lotion.

For lunch we drove into downtown Holbrook and found a nice old fashioned family restaurant, all weathered dark timber and positively cluttered with an eclectic assortment of uncategorized “stuff” from the forties, fifties, sixties and seventies including some great children's toys which actually looked all battered and worn and “played with”. We were served by a sort of “Supergran” who whizzed around the tables chatting to everyone and making a special fuss of the children.

Arthur ordered fried chicken strips and she asked him if he had ever seen a chicken strip. His “No.” was her invitation to exclaim “You get a lot of feathers flying about” whilst breaking into an energetic impression of a chicken doing a striptease complete with hummed accompaniment! The food was good too. I ordered meatloaf and got proper vegetables with it – this is first time I have been served vegetables with any meal I have ordered in the USA, if you don't count fries.

Then we bought and posted Birthday cards to my Dad who will be 81 in five days time. They will almost certainly arrive late but that is pretty much “de rigeur” in my family anyway.

Arthur's Log:
Lay around doing nothing for most of the day.
