... and so into Canada
Day 38
Friday Jun 27

Ian Rambles
Just driving. No longer a road trip, just making time to get across the border ready to pick up our RV.

Fiona's Journal
A day of pretty solid driving across the State of Washington. We have been watching Mount St. Helens appear and disappear on the horizon all day. It is a hugely impressive and imposing presence at one moment and then seconds later it vanishes from sight so completely and suddenly that you are left gazing around in all directions wondering where it has gone. It reminds me of the Eifel tower which had exactly the same strange quality.

We crossed the border into Canada at about 5.00pm and that was an uneventful, if not exactly friendly, welcome to the next country in our itinerary.

Arthur's Log:
Today we crossed into Canada after a six hour drive. Customs were amazingly tight, as soon as we entered the check area were we were surrounded by three officers with large firearms. After they had checked us over to go in to the second check zone, they screamed stop raising the arms saying they didn't see George's face. They thought a family of four were smuggling a dwarf terrorist into the country?

Love the mountains, and the way there all layered at the same height so it goes thick mossy green trees at the bottom, harsh gray rock in the middle, dazzling white snow at the top. Apparently the temperature rocketed just before we got here and all the snow on the mountains are melting very fast so theres huge streams with little bits of ice on top rushing down the mountains. Also because there is large lumps of ice rushing down the rivers they smash into rocks releasing a chunk of the rocks minerals making all the water a cool icy light blue.
